Happy Wednesday! How’s your week going? For this week’s food-diary-esque What I Ate Wednesday post, I thought I’d share a few of the food-related highlights from my trip to the Newport Folk Festival this past weekend. My family has been going to the festival almost every year since, like, 2005(?). I didn’t get to go last year, so I was so happy to be able to make the trip this time around.

We stayed at a lovely bed & breakfast called the La Farge Perry House, which was such a nice treat. It’s very cute and comfortable and in a great location. One of my favorite things about Newport is the Cliff Walk—a gorgeous trail you can walk or run along. My mom and I enjoyed some beautiful morning strolls. Cliffwalk

Nothing like 12,00 steps to help you work up an appetite. Breakfast was served at the inn every morning. Saturday morning, omelets were on the menu. Sunday it was pancakes or eggs. I had eggs. Protein is important when you’re going to be out walking around in the sun all day. La Farge omelet

There is always tons of amazing food at the festival—gourmet food carts to ice cream to burgers to local specialties like lobster rolls. Saturday, my mom and I split a Greek salad and a sandwich that had some kind of truffle oil business happening. Sunday I enjoyed a veggie juice and a lobster roll. Actually, I ditched the roll part because I just wanted at the lobster meat. So. Damn. Good. NFF Lobster Roll and Juice

On Saturday, night, we ate dinner at local burger joint Mission, where I tried wine in a can for the first time. I didn’t hate it…The burgers were pretty great too. wine in a can

Sunday night we went to a fancier place, 22 Bowen, where I had salad and scallops. I never thought to serve them with fresh corn, but that’s happening again soon. 22 bowen scallops

We didn’t do much in the way of dessert, but of course I brought some bananas with me, among other just-in-case snacks. Always prepared.

What was the last vacation you took? Any favorite vacation eats? Would you try wine in a can?
