It’s January, aka New Year’s Resolution Season, a time of year in which many of us set goals or resolutions for the year ahead. While it’s wonderful to have goals to work towards, it’s also really important to make sure those goals truly align with what we want to achieve and that we set ourselves up for success rather than failure.

Having SMART goals ensures that we set ourselves up for success and prevents us from feeling like a failure should we not achieve our desired outcome. Curious to know what makes goals SMART?

SMART goals are:

Specific

Measurable

Achievable

Realist

Timely

Because it’s important to have fun in life – and working towards our goals should be no exception – I’ve decided that goals should also represent two more letters: AF for And Fun.

I’m also a firm believer in the power of small changes, so I want to remind you to be gentle with yourself as you set out to make life changes. Don’t expect too much of yourself in a short period of time. Instead, approach your goals and resolutions with care and patience, and do the same for yourself.
