Today, Whole Foods Market announced the launch of its “Do Something Reel” film festival, which will bring “a collection of six provocative, character-driven films that focus on food, environmental issues and everyday people with a vision of making a world of difference” to 70 cities. Rather than being screened during a larger “destination festival,” the films will be shown through April and May in movie theaters in communities near Whole Foods Markets.

Said Walter Robb, co-CEO, “Through our Whole Foods Market Do Something Reel Film Festival we want to raise awareness of environmental and food issues, and support filmmakers who are creating films that inspire people to question the impact our choices have on our health, body and environment.” A portion of all ticket sales will go to a film production and development grant that will be awarded to filmmakers at various stages of such projects.

Films to be screened include: Bag It!; Lunch LineOn Coal River; PLANEAT; Urban Roots; and Vanishing of the Bees.
