Weekdays can be crazy-busy, making it hard to find time for a healthy, satisfying breakfast. I recently shared some of my favorite make-ahead recipes over on Elana Lyn. Aside from saving you time and dollars, enjoying a homemade morning meal is a great way to show yourself a little love and makes it easier to stick to healthy habits.

overnight oats Fage 2%Overnight oats are great, but you can also make a big batch of regular oats and portion out into single-serving containers to reheat when you’re ready for breakfast. I do this all the time. Because I like to pair mine with some fat to make it more satisfying, I’ll throw a single-serving pack of peanut butter (for sweet oatmeal) or do half an avocado or a little tahini for savory oats.

I’m also a big fan of the make-ahead egg sandwich thing because I hate the anxiety that comes with not knowing whether Starbucks/Dunkin Donuts/Panera will have any of my favorites left. First-world problems, I know. As far as health goes, this is also a great way to reduce added sodium intake and customize with healthier options if you’re trying to cut back on bacon and other processed meats often added to breakfast sandwiches.
