I used to stress about doing cool stuff on weekends, but I find that I pack my weeks so full now, I’m legitimately excited when I have a quiet weekend to myself to recharge. I had the chance to do that last weekend. It was all about sleep and yoga and writing and meal prepping and not stepping foot on the freaking subway. I actually felt like a functional human come Monday! Ah, New York life…

For this week’s “What I Ate Wednesday” food journal-style post, here’s a look at what I ate on Saturday:

What I Ate Wednesday #342

Breakfast: Roasted Brussels sprouts & kabocha squash plus some baby kale I was trying to use up. I added a spoonful of goat cheese too.

Lunch: Turkey burger salad—this recipe almost exactly

Snack: Whole milk plain Greek yogurt with chia seeds and a drizzle of maple syrup

Dinner: Sautéed shredded Brussels sprouts & mushrooms with leftover squash and herbed slow cooker chicken  ; to drink, a tiny pour of whiskey—sometimes just a little taste is all I really want, and this was perfect!

Bedtime snack: I was a tiny bit hungry before bed so had another half-cup of yogurt with cinnamon and a drizzle of maple syrup

I am so glad I took some quiet time to recharge this weekend. We all have our struggles, and that’s definitely one of mine.

How do you like to recharge?
