Good morning and happy Wednesday. Hope you’re having a great week. I imagine I’m not the only one feeling the crunch as we get closer to the holidays this coming weekend. As a kid I found it very satisfying when Christmas and Hanukah were during the same week.  With said crunch-time madness in mind, I’m sharing another self-care Sunday for this week’s weekly food diary link-up because I’m proud of myself for actually taking time to hit pause and hang out with my mom. I think we both needed the time. We got lunch, then did some Christmas shopping (10,000 Fitbit steps, check!) and got manicures. It was wonderful and restorative.

Here’s what I ate on said Self-Care Sunday.

Breakfast: It was freezing cold, but my scratchy throat had me craving a smoothie for breakfast. I made this pumpkin pie green smoothie.

Lunch: We went to The Smith for lunch. I had the simple scramble but with poached eggs instead of scrambled. When it comes to eggs, if I’m going to eat the whole egg, I want the runny yolk. All about that #yolkporn. I loved that I got to enjoy salad along with my bacon and eggs and potatoes. As I was saying last week, bacon is one of my in-moderation foods that I let myself have once or twice a month.

Snack: After my mom headed home, I had about 10 minutes to get changed and head out for yoga. I wasn’t super-hungry but knew I wouldn’t make it through class without a little something to tide me over, so I had a plain Siggi’s yogurt with cinnamon and a drizzle of maple syrup (not pictured).

Dinner: I made pasta with a bunch of veggies and pulled chicken that I’d made in the slow cooker using Trader Joe’s Soyaki sauce mixed with water as the liquid. I made a double-batch so I could have leftovers the next night.

It was pretty late by the time I finished dinner, so I had a piece of dark chocolate (with cacao nibs!) and a cup of tea and then basically collapsed into bed.

What was the best thing you ate last weekend?
