appy What I Ate Wednesday. How’s your week going? The post of today’s theme is Summer Cravings. There are lots of things I love about this time of year. I know the word “craving” gets a bad reputation, but there are lots of  healthy things our brain and body point us toward that it’s great to listen to.

I love waking up early and taking a long walk to enjoy the quiet and morning light. Lately, I’ve been taking advantage of my work-from-home days to spend time in the park and meeting up with friends for walks instead of drinks. Sometimes I wonder why I insist on continuing to live in New York and make everything ten times harder for myself (financially, at least), but these outings do a great job of reminding me.

By the time I get home, I’ve usually worked up quite an appetite. Nothing hits the spot this time of year like a bowl of yogurt topped with fruit (gotta love those fresh summer berries), chia seeds or flax, and peanut butter. I’m kind of obsessed with the Stonyfield whole milk Greek yogurt right now.

As far as lunch foods go, I’m all about big salads for lunch—that’s pretty consistent year-round, but in hot weather, a big ol’ pile of greens is especially refreshing. I’m totally hung up on burger salads lately, whether that’s a veggie burger or turkey burger.

When it comes to dinner, I love to keep it simple with lightly cooked fish and veggies. Maybe if I lived somewhere I had a grill I would have a different answer, but this is where it’s at for me.

Some other summer cravings: I also love going to an early yoga or pilates class before meeting up with friends for lunch or a picnic in the park. I’m less about trendy spots and of-the-moment outfits and more about being comfortable. In the summer, I just want to feel like a well-rested, more relaxed version of myself, so it’s no wonder  I gravitate to  sundresses that I can just throw on without having to overthink anything—this one makes my littleSagittarius heart happy.

Needless to say, I was psyched to receive my Amelia Black Lace dress from PrAna. The soft fabric is made from a combination of recycled and virgin polyester, along with a tiny bit of spandex for stretch—perfect for tossing into my yoga bag if I want to just do a quick change after class and move on to the next thing.

I have no idea how to pose for clothing photos (and probably shouldn’t do it when my insomnia is in town for a visit because hello, under-eye circles, but whatever—real life is real life), but I wanted to show you guys the cute pattern and easy fit of this dress—awesome for a hot day when you just want to feel cute and unencumbered.

A little bit about the company: PrAna is on a mission to “inspire healthy, active, and free-spirited living.” I totally dig their sustainably created pieces inspired by the founders’ own travels and adventures, and I appreciate that the company partners with charities around the world to help nurture the environment and the people who live in it.
