A lesson I am continuing to learn is that when your body tells you something, it’s important to listen. Historically, I am terrible at taking it easy and powering down, but in the past few months I’ve been getting more in touch with the value of recharge time.

Last Saturday was originally going to be packed full of stuff, but I ended up taking it down a notch. This year’s flu season is not messing around, and I wanted to do what I could to stay well for Sunday plans to visit family. I went to yoga and then mostly just enjoyed some writing, podcasts, and low-key food prep. I found that because I’d given myself a little rest, I was much better able to focus on the writing project I had to do. Funny how that goes…

Here’s the “What I ate” part of the day.

What I Ate Wednesday #358

Breakfast: Pre-yoga I enjoyed a green smoothie similar to my pumpkin pie green smoothie recipe. I had a ton of leftover kabocha squash I was trying to use up, so I used that instead of pumpkin. I threw some seeds on top.
Lunch: Salad with zoodles, veggies, sardines, and hummus
Snack: Plain yogurt with flax and chia blend , cinnamon, and a drizzle of maple syrup
Dinner: I had some leftovers from the day before, so slow cooker pork tenderloin , more kabocha, and braised red cabbage. i only ended up finishing about half; ginger kombucha while cooking
Dessert: Tea and chocolate covered strawberries
