.) In the spirit of #tbt …I found this picture from my 8th grade graduation last weekend at my parents’ house. OMG, my hair! I didn’t know it at the time, but I was clearly auditioning for the role of Betty Draper. I’m also so glad my eyebrows eventually grew back in. 14 was not my year.

.) When I was a freshman in high school, we had to take this computer class where we learned basic typing, Excel, and Power Point. Surprisingly, I’ve actually retained about 80% of this information and can type way too fast for my own good. One thing I forgot about until the other day until reading this post from Zenhabits, though: Our first week of school, we had to take this quiz that told us what careers we should consider. Dietitian was my top choice, even though it’s not what I went to college for the first time around. The dude next to me got “Actuary.” I have to confess, I still have no idea what the f*** that is. Said dude, whom I ran into on a bus recently, went into law.

.) I know I talked quite a bit about not being gluten-free last week, but last month, I got curious about some of the gluten-free pastas at Trader Joe’s.  I have to admit, it’s really good! Similar to regular pasta, as long as you don’t cook it too long, the texture is perfect. For someone unable to have regular  pasta, this would be a great alternative! Even for people who get along fine with the real deal, it’s a fun way to try something thing new. Trader Joe's GF pasta

.) Last week a patient told me I should take a solo trip to Paris. Now I can’t get the thought out of my head.

.) Another patient told me the other day that I’m “attractive enough” that I don’t have to wear heels. Um, thanks?  I’m sure it was well-intentioned, but this is 2014. On the other side of the “grass is always greener” fence, after answering that, no, he’s not married, a male colleague of mine was asked by a patient how “the virgins” are these days. Oh dear. But also: They still have those in New York?

.) While sorting through some drawers, my sister found an old “Things to Do Before I’m 30” list I have no recollection of making. Almost all of these bucket-list items sounded awful to my almost-thirty-year-old self (Go “clubbing” in NYC? Screw someone famous? Ew—groupie germs), and for whatever reason, I left number 39 completely blank. The only one that still holds up, basically, is “Stick stuff on a lamp.” Actually, that’s a lie. I like my lamps way too much to take that kind of risk. That Pottery Barn s*** ain’t cheap.

.) Sometimes I use my Etch-A-Sketch as a coaster. etch a sketch as coaster

.) This has nothing to do with food/nutrition things, but I can’t stop listening to this song lately:

What’s on your mind this Thursday?

I had so much fun linking up with the Running with Spoons Thinking Out Loud link party last week, I did it again!
