Welcome to another Running with Spoons Thinking Out Loud link party where stream-of-consciousness is the name of the game! Thanks to Amanda for hosting!
Let’s jump right into the randomness, shall we?
1.) Earlier this week I had a couple of those days where you want to just crawl out of your skin. Finally on Tuesday, I realized I could just blame Mercury retrograde and Wednesday’s full moon lunar eclipse/”blood moon” business. Cheers to planetary scapegoats!
2.) One high point Monday, though, was this awesome diner salad I enjoyed while out visit my parents and Eli.
Speaking of Eli, he is doing great. So happy! Still, I fully admit to crying on the bus home over the fact that I won’t see the little dude for two weeks, most likely. Full moons = all the feelings feel bigger.
3.) I’ve been trying to curb retail therapy tendencies, but of course on my lunch break Tuesday, I walked into Duane Reade for seltzer and also walked out with a nail polish. Better a $6.99 beauty buy than the $69.99 boots I’d been eyeing online, but still. I’m all about dark colors on my nails this fall, especially dark metallic. I’ve always been a fan of metallic nail polish, though so this is nothing new. As a kid, I said my favorite color was copper. Best crayon ever.
4.) My sister texted me the other night to ask for my cranberry sauce recipe. It reminded me I have a bag of cranberries in the freezer from last year that I should probably use up.
5.) One of my comfort foods is shitty deli coffee. With skim milk and Splenda. I know, I know. It’s terrible, and in the most 2008-esque sense of the word, but that chemical-y taste just hits a certain guilty pleasure sweet spot once in a while. My favorite is when they give you a paper bag in which to transport said shitty coffee.
6.) I heard a guy humming what I thought was a song from the Nightmare Before Christmas in the elevator at work the other day. I spent a good portion of the next hour wondering if it’s on Netflix and if I would still enjoy it as much as I used to, which led to me wondering what it was I liked so much about that movie damn anyway.
7.) I got my flu shot Tuesday. Sorry, Mom.
What’s on your mind this Thursday?
