Happy Thursday! Hope you’re having a good week so far. I can’t believe we’re already into mid-January. After spending a good part of last week and the weekend in a head cold fog, I feel like I kind of just landed here. What is this mythical land of post-holiday “when everything gets back to normal” I keep hearing about? Since it’s Thursday, I’ve got some random stuff to share with you guys as usual.
*I went to a sushi-making class the other night. It was so messy and tons of fun. Here I am attempting to make a hand roll. As it turns out, I’m sort of terrible at making sushi, but practice makes perfect. I walked out of there with tons of ideas for sushi-inspired recipes.
*If you’re looking to get into a good groove with your diet this month, Nutrimedy is offering a promo code for 30% off your next nutrition appointment if you book with me before January 31st (open to NY state residents). My ID is 10064.

*If you’re struggling with how to eat more organic food without blowing your budget, my Shape article has some tips to help you prioritize.
*I know I don’t talk about my work with ALS much on here, but for anyone who’s looking for ideas for how to make puree diets more appealing (for yourself, a loved one, a patient, etc), check out my article on Increasing Enjoyment of Modified Texture Diets.
*If you’ve been reading a while, then you know I’m a little obsessed with oatmeal. I am all about “proats”: protein + oats. Thanks to Christy Brissette for including my egg white oatmeal recipe in her roundup!
*In the spirit of #throwbackthursday my mom found this old photo while cleaning. I was obsessed with that pink princess costume she’d made me (styled after The Little Mermaid, of course) and wore it as a nightgown for years afterwards. By the way, that adorable Minnie Mouse on the left is my friend Arissa (her Instagram is amazing!).
*Can we talk about how awesome this David Lynch cooking quinoa video is?
Did you have a costume that you wore to pieces as a kid?
This has been another installment of the Running with Spoons Thinking Out Loud link party, where randomness is the name of the game. Thanks to Amanda for hosting.
