Happy Thursday! This week is nuts, but one day at a time, one foot in front of other. All the things that need to get done get done this way. For this week’s randomness link-up party, I’ve got a classic brain-dump post to share.

*Construction in my building has been making things a little kooky this week.  I almost never do this, but I used the commotion as an excuse to take myself out for lunch the other day after a meeting instead of going home for lunch. I went to a nearby Le Pain Quotidien and enjoyed an arugula salad with a side of smoked salmon while I wrote.

* I don’t know what it is about summer that makes me obsessed with having perfect nails. I enjoyed a mani-pedi while out in the burbs. I’ve also gotten really good at doing my own nails. I really, really, really want to try gel nails, though. Anyone been there, done that, and have an opinion to share?

*Speaking of self-care and nail salons, I’ve taken to just dropping in for a 10 or 20-minute chair massage now and then. I get crazy tension in my back, shoulders, and neck, and this has helped a lot.

*Thanks to everyone who read my story about my vegetarian experience. I’ve been making an effort to show how even dietitians are real people and not, as I say in the piece, magical #CleanEating creatures.

*I get a lot of questions about foods to boost weight loss. This week, I’m quoted in a Men’s Fitness piece on that very topic.

*My wanderlust is back with a vengeance this week. I know this song is not about New York City circa 2016, but the phrase “everybody knows this is nowhere”—and therefore, this song—has been stuck in my head on a loop. So yeah.

Because most of Neil Young’s music is not on Spotify anymore, I’ve been listening to whole albums on YouTube when I absolutely can’t stand it. Man, once upon a time I used to just pop in a CD. I don’t even have a CD player anymore! Gah—the future is so weird!

*I’ve also been listening to this Bright Eyes song a lot lately.

Have you ever done gel nails? What songs are you obsessed with lately?

This post has been part of another Running with Spoons Thinking Out Loud link party, where randomness is the name of the game. Thanks to Amanda for hosting.
