My schedule requires me to go for long stretches between meals. Maybe some people can handle that but I need something to keep me going. I often feel like “that girl with the weird snacks” when I pull out what I’ve packed to eat between classes.
Lately, I’ve been digging this version of overnight oats—I make it when I make breakfast so the oats and chia seeds are all nice and soaked by the time I have a chance to crack it open around 4:30. It’s ugly, yes, but delicious and filling. In the mix:
- 1/4 c oats
- 1 tbsp chia seeds
- 1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 ripe banana
- 1/4 tsp vanilla
- cinnamon
- 3/4 c plain yogurt (you could use vanilla too)
I can’t be the only one who packs weird snacks! I’d love to hear some of your crazy concoctions!

I add extra protein powder to my greek yogurt & tote that. But I think my weirdest is carrying baggies of 6 ounces of grilled chicken breast strips. I carry it to my bf’s softball games.. i carry it to work.. i carry it on flights too! my boyfriend is relentless in making fun of me but i dont care!! especially when i eat the chicken then pull out a whole wheat wrap and eat it plain! haha
