On Sundays, I like to make food for the week ahead. Sometimes that means roasting a ton of vegetables, boiling beans or trimming and washing kale. I’d like to get myself in the habit of pre-slicing stuff, but that’s still one of those “when I get around to it” goals.

I should seriously start a list of all the things I say I’m going to begin doing when my internship starts. Maybe I’ll have a better shot at doing them. Anyway.

Despite it being July, I made soup last night. Split pea soup with lots of carrots, garlic, onion, and turmeric, to be specific. Something in the air made me want to stock the freezer. There’s something about stirring a big pot of soup, chili, or stew that is so soothing.

It must have been all the kick-ass spoons I saw at the Hells Kitchen flea market that got me going.

Knowing I don’t have to worry much about cooking much over the next few days also kind of rocks.

Hope your week is off to a good start! What do you like to get of the way on Sundays?
