Wow! It’s late October! That happened quickly. This fall has been proving to be a very busy and exciting time—lots of events and projects and already planning out into 2018. Feels good! On the food front, I’ve been digging all those fall flavors. I say this probably every day (at least once or eight times), but I seriously feel super-lucky that writing is such a big part of my work.

The other day I was listening to the 10-year anniversary remaster of Spoon’s Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga and found myself thinking back to when it was “the new Spoon album,” which of course led to thinking about being 21 and what I imagined my adult life would be like. I have to say I’m so happy it’s been different from what my 21-year-old self anticipated. In fact, part of the reason I moved to NYC after college was because I just knew in my gut that the path I was on in Boston wasn’t the right one for me. It took me a while to start to understand how things would fit into place (who ever knows in the moment?) but I’m so glad I listened to that inner voice and took a big risk when it would have been easy to just stay where I was.

Me at 21. Yes, I still write standing up. No, I have no idea why.

Ooookay, reflection time over. Let’s just say this month has been a real trip but in so many good ways. Thank all that is holy for yoga, though! I’ve been needing that time to just freaking breathe. Speaking of yoga, I went to an event at the new HBFIT and WeWork “fitness destination” RISE by We  downtown where I enjoyed a lovely yoga flow class.  What a beautiful space!

Did you ever make a big move because you wanted to change course? How do you make time to chill out when life is busy?

This has been another installment of the Running with Spoons Thinking Out Loud link party, where randomness is the name of the game. Thanks to Amanda for hosting.
