A new study published in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association shows that children whose mothers more tightly control their eating habits may be more likely to overeat and that those whose moms pressure them to eat could be more prone to fussy food behavior.
Though these findings are far from conclusive, they mirror results of other studies on the effect mothers’ eating habits and attitudes towards food can have on children. This particular study was careful to point out that kids can both influence and be influenced by parents’ “diet management,” which sounds like a classic case of “chicken or the egg,” if you ask me.
