First things first: the winner of the Olive You Giveaway is Chanterelle! Congratulations! I’ve been in touch via email so once we have your mailing info we’ll get your price to you ASAP!

Since I haven’t done a post like this in a while, I thought it would be fun to share some things I’ve been loving lately.

To Eat:

I am re-obsessed with this roasted maple Brussels sprouts recipe using frozen Brussels sprouts. I haven’t made it in a while, but this bacon-enhanced recipe has also been on my mind.

*Yogurt with cocoa powder and berries has been a favorite afternoon snack recently. Frozen raspberries have really been getting me through this winter.

*Speaking of yogurt, this Hodgson Mill Flax Chia mix has been an on the go life-saver over the past month as something to stir in.

*Meat. I have no shame. I have just really been craving animal protein recently. I haven’t been going off the wall or anything, but I’ve just noticed that I seem to need a little more. We all go through phases and jags, so not really overthinking it.

To Drink:

-After not being able to drink most of February, I’ve really enjoyed being reunited with my favorite Widow Jane bourbon. It’s actually made right in Red Hook. I’d rather shell out for a small amount of something I love rather than drink a ton of cheap stuff. Also, I know it’s a major NYC cliche, but there really is nothing like sipping some brown liquor by the fire in a Brooklyn bar as 20-somethings on a Hinge date make out like no one’s watching.

*This collagen hot cocoa.

To Read:

*A friend recommended Joshua Ferris’ Then We Came to the End a few weeks ago, and it really got me through a lonely few days earlier this month. It was just one of those sulky full moon days where the weather was crappy and nothing was sticking in the way of social plans, so I took myself out to a bar for oysters and a bourbon and just read. It ended up being a really nice night!

*After getting a reading from Jen of Sea and Stone Wellness last month using The Wild Unknown Tarot Deck , I had such a strong reaction to it I had to get my own deck. I haven’t gotten new tarot cards since I was 17, so I don’t know why 15 years later it suddenly seemed important, but I am so happy I did. As a fun thing, I’ve been drawing one card each day and asking myself, “What should I keep in mind today?”It’s interesting to me when I wind up drawing the same few cards no matter how many times I shuffle the deck. Recently the Ten of Cups has been following me.

To Listen To:

*I’ve been working very intently on my mindset this year, and my business coach Nicole got me into James Wedmore’s Mind Your Business podcast. Almost every episode is something I didn’t even realize I needed to hear.

*I’ve also really been digging Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast. It’s fun but I also love how he gets into real-shit kind of talk with his guests.

To Smell:

*I’ve been really clued into that olfactory system recently. Last month, my colleague recommended this Palo Santo kit from Shaman Market to help with cleansing out some intense negative energy. I grew up in a house where it seemed like there was also sage or incense burning, but I’d kind of gotten away from it in my adult life. Something about this winter has got me wanting to revisit and dig back into some things I used to turn to. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but it felt good and helped me get into a better headspace going into March.

Essential Oil Diffuser

*I also suddenly started hating scented candles (maybe temporarily?) a few months ago, so on a recommendation from Ryan at 5 Point Acupuncture, I purchased this awesome essential oil diffuser to actually make good use of my collection of essential oils. Um, why did I wait so long? It’s been a really nice life upgrade!
