I have to admit, I’d never given much thought to government agencies and food policies as they relate to breast milk. The FDA already regulates infant formula, so it’s not that much of a leap. Yesterday, the FDA announced that while parents should still take precautions to make sure that milk they obtain through donation-based milk banks has been screened, they don’t have plans to step in and regulate these banks. The system needs to be more closely examined before a final decision is reached.
