Ah, don’t you just love food recalls? Yesterday, upon returning home from lunch with my friend at a favorite diner, where I’d enjoyed a delicious egg-white-and-veggie omelet, I  saw multiple articles about a huge egg recall. I immediately came down with a psychosomatic stomach ache, though I feel completely fine today.

According to the CDC, over 2,000 people have been sickened in the past few months due to the ongoing salmonella outbreak from eggs. Symptoms include fever, abdominal cramps and diarrhea, usually lasting four to seven days. The numbers of cases is expected to rise, so make sure you cook your eggs thoroughly or ask for them well done in restaurants!

HOW TO CHECK EGGS
http://www.usatoday.com/news/health/thumbs-squares/eggx-square.jpgEggs affected by the recall are sold under the following brands: Albertson, Boomsma’s, Dutch Farms, Farm Fresh, Hillandale, Kemps, Lucerne, Lund, Mountain Dairy, Ralph’s, Shoreland, Sunshine and Trafficanda.

The eggs are in cartons from plant numbers 1026, 1413 and 1946, with dates ranging from 136 to 225. Dates and codes can be found stamped on the end of the egg carton. The plant number begins with P, then the number. The date follows the plant number. For example: P-1946 223.
