It always makes me happy to read about campaigns and incentives to promote breastfeeding. This past week, the IRS decided that mothers can now claim tax deductions on breast pumps and other feeding supplies. These tax breaks apply to 2010 taxes and allow families to use their pre-tax flexible medical account money on breastfeeding, but only if these costs account for at least 7.5 percent of adjusted gross income. Still, that stuff can add up quickly, so if you know of any nursing mothers or anyone else who might benefit from this, spread the word.
