Happy Sunday! How’s your weekend? I’m in Miami for the wedding of one of my longtime lady-friends (we met in kindergarten!), and I’m so thrilled for her. I can’t remember seeing someone so happy to be getting married.

I’ll keep the into short and sweet and just get right down to my weekly list of small good things. Here’s a bit of what made me smile this week.

*Happy National Nutrition Month to my fellow dietitians out there!

The hospital had a little event this week for the nutrition staff for National Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Day (say that three times fast) where we were each given a flower–pretty!

*How many times now have I added coffee to my weekly gratitude list? I’ve had a lot of rough nights in terms of sleep over the past month, and I’ve found that a morning cup (or okay, two three) makes all the difference. I must have been more tired than I thought, though, when I ground this batch the other morning. True, I’d been up since 2 before deciding to get up and start my day at 4, but I thought I was somewhat functional by the time I left for work. Maybe not.

*So grateful for puppy kisses. I spent a night in New Jersey with my family before heading to Miami, and it was so great to see my little dude.

*Thursday night, I went to a great Greek cooking class hosted by the GNYDA and League of Kitchens where we learned how to make spanakopita, lentil soup, and horta (greens). I love when continuing education is this tasty. Greek cooking class

*I don’t usually say this kind of thing, but I feel like I should pat myself on the back this week. It’s not easy going to weddings alone, and I’ll be damned if it isn’t a certain kind of brave just to show up smiling, regardless of what’s going on in your own life.

*A couple weeks ago, I posted a favorite quote from a Bob Dylan song that I like to keep in my figurative back pocket for times I need it. Well, while cleaning off my desk the other day, I found this note I wrote myself a year ago today at the Women Who Brunch event with Hannah Brencher that mentions that same quote. I love that “full circle” kind of feeling, however bittersweet it can be. I wish I had an emotional pedometer to, like, track the past 365 days. WWHB Hannah Letter

Now I’m curious what I’ll have to say next March 15th! If nothing else, at least I know how I plan to get there:

Put one foot in front of the other.

Repeat.

Have a lovely rest of your Sunday : )
